General Session 8: Fraud Expert Panel (Halton Police, Provenir, TU, Equifax)

This session will kick off with Detective Ryan Christopher of the Halton Police Fraud Bureau presenting on the various types of synthetic ID fraud and the techniques used by criminals from a law enforcement perspective. He will cover the growing problem of synthetic identity fraud as well as provide red-flag indicators. Detective Christopher will then join our panel discussion exploring the fraud landscape, and how industry and law enforcement experts are responding to ever changing fraud tactics. Whether it’s battling synthetic fraud or the impact of macro-economic pressures on increased first-party fraud, lenders need to have an ever-expanding toolbox at the ready. You will hear how organizations are tackling fraud today and what tools will be required to better protect businesses in the future.

The machine learning session presented by Capital One was impressive with a detailed case study on in-sourcing digital marketing.

I enjoyed the conference and found the material to be very engaging and informative, especially for someone new to the industry. My favourite sessions were the Economic Update, the impact on recent real estate policy changes, and using advanced analytics to generate alternative deal structures in auto lending.
