Breakout Session 1: The Impact of Economic Uncertainty on Small Business Risk (Equifax)

11:00 AM - Monday, June 12
Peninsula

While all businesses are being impacted by rising costs due to inflation and interest rate increases, these shifting dynamics impact businesses differently. Some businesses are prepared for market uncertainty, others may not be in a position to weather the storm. After a marked increase in the number of business bankruptcies at the end of 2022, the Canadian economy is expected to remain in a persistent downturn throughout 2023. Growth opportunities for businesses are impacted by consumers and by businesses restricting their spending. Credit risk is rising, and growth is further impacted as many lenders tighten their credit policies. This session will help attendees understand some key insights that will help in developing and managing forward-looking business risk mitigation plans, and in understanding how best to support business clients.
