CSRSA Live Webinar: Large Language Models in Credit Risk Management

Title: Large Language Models in Credit Risk Management

Date: June 24, 2026 @ 1PM-2PM Eastern Time

Presenters: Yara Elias, Leonid Kushnir and Shawn Sampson (EY)

This session examines how large language models (LLMs) can be used in credit risk management in a way that meets model governance expectations.  We’ll describe a study we conducted using a synthetic Canadian SME portfolio and a logistic regression benchmark. The study compares prompt-based vs. fine-tuned LLM approaches to credit scoring, focusing on discriminatory power, stability, and reproducibility. The discussion highlights where LLMs can match or outperform traditional credit scoring models—and where additional model development risks might emerge. We will also discuss how LLM based capabilities accelerate credit risk processes more broadly, with a lens towards responsible adoption.
