General Session: Teranet: Market Intelligence - First Time Homebuyers

In this session, a representative from Teranet will present insights into the first-time homebuyer segment to identify trends in their behaviour.
For the purpose of this presentation first-time homebuyers are defined as:
• Property purchases by buyers who claimed the Ontario land transfer tax exemption for first-time homebuyers. To qualify for this exemption, the buyer(s) must not have purchased property anywhere in the world.
Some of data trends that we plan to focus on will be:
• Property transfer volume by Buyer Segment 2011 to 2026
• Buyer segment transfer volume amongst Condo and Non-Condo properties
• Ontario transfer volume by first-time homebuyers and non-first-time homebuyer
• First-time homebuyer vs non-first-time homebuyer proportion of condo and non-condo transfer volumes
• First-time homebuyer vs non-first-time homebuyer condo and non-condo purchase proportion by region
• Top ten regions with highest first-time homebuyer volumes in Ontario
• Parties on title with first-time homebuyers
o First-time homebuyer proportion of total condo purchases by number
of purchasing parties
o First-time homebuyer proportion of total non-condo purchases by number
of purchasing parties
• Lender preferences of first-time homebuyers
o First-time homebuyers proportion of total purchases by number of lenders
o First-time homebuyer proportion of total purchases by lender type
